Image with watermark
Add copyright or watermark to protect your photos from unauthorized copying
With the spread of the images on the web, has become important, for anyone posting a photo, indicate the property of the author of these images. All agencies of web marketing that realize logos and graphics, for a long time with this system, to avoid throwing away (give) hours and hours of labor costs for the realization of the work performed.
The speed and ease with which our images surfing the web on social platforms and does not protect us from the fact that these possibilities are downloaded and used in publications or sites that do not report to the author to have used his images nor indicate on their sites authorship. I remind you that, in the absence of a clear indication of the property in our photos, everyone is entitled to use them freely. If the law does not lose the intellectual rights on the work, without a clear indication on copyright, we can not ask for any reward or retaliate on those who copy and re-use our images without permission.
In fact the safest protection would be able to prevent the downloading of images from the web, unfortunately this is virtually impossible. Just do a test, by right-clicking on an image and choose 'copy', 'Copy link'.
So if it is true that there is a secure system to 100%, However, we must ensure at least add a copyright notice whenever our images appear on the web when not directly on the photos themselves. There we protect against theft of photos but at least we minimize the risk.
Theoretically the copyright notice commissioning lime should be enough, but in light of what has been said it is always better to add a watermark, the so-called watermark (ie a written superimposed image, which can be transparent or not), directly on the photograph. This among other things allows us to use it anywhere without having to continually add notes on copyright.
The photographers generally use programs like Photoshop, with an automatic action, Lightroom, but the procedure is not so easy and automatic and can discourage other users. To simplify our lives suggest you use ad hoc programs, they do everything automatically.
Among the free programs, you can try Pictureshark. This has the advantage of making us choose where to place the word, then we lay too create real watermarks, written or semi-transparent which are INSIDE the photo but you see just (the safest)
Another software to put watermark on your photos, totally free that Google has made available for some years, is called Picasa
